Theme of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

The main theme of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the value of humility. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone emphasizes the virtue of humility by showcasing the extraordinary modesty of its hero and by making this modesty an important part of Harry’s success in obtaining the Philosopher’s Stone, also, known as the elixir of life. Harry’s humility was no doubt ingrained in him during his ten miserable years of neglect and cruelty with the Dursleys.

But Harry does not stop being humble when he gains fame, wealth, and popularity at Hogwarts. His reaction to the discovery that everyone seems to know his name on the train to Hogwarts does not make him primp and pose, but rather only gives him hope that he can manage to live up to his reputation.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Book Summary

Beginning of the story

A boy named Harry Potter lives in her aunt’s house in #4, Privet Drive. Harry just got his letter from Hogwarts but his uncle refuses to read it. In fact, they hide all the letter that harry got from the same place that sent it until one Sunday, exactly where post wasn`t be given a whole bunch of letters came from the door, even in the chimney and in the window.

Finally, Harry got one letter saying that he was invited to enroll in Hogwarts, but then again, his auntie and uncle objected to his invitation, and Harry expected that because her auntie hates magic that she doesn`t have. That night, a big giant man named Hagrid came in, saying that he would get Harry to study in Hogwarts, and with that man`s charisma of scaring Harry, Harry would go to Hogwarts to study magic and be a true wizard like his parents.

Middle part of the story

Harry Potter learned different spells and tricks from his teachers until they found a secret door that was strictly forbidden. Hermione put a trick in the door so it would be open, and when they got inside, they saw a giant dog with 3 heads sleeping, and it was actually hiding something in his feet.

They ran as fast as they could and punched the door to lock it, and when they`re back at Gryffindor’s barracks, Hermione came up with the idea that the dog was actually guarding something. The three partially forgot what happened in that room because they focused on Harry being a seeker in the Quidditch game on Gryffindor’s team. While Harry was in the game, his broom was actually abnormal, and when Hermione observed the audience, she saw Professor Snape jinxing the broom, but in fact Professor Quirrell did it.

End of the Story

Harry, Hermione, and Ron actually think that Professor Snape is the one who aims what that giant dog is guarding. They decide that they’re going to find out what’s inside before Snape comes first, so they sneak out and get in without them seeing Harry’s cloak of invincibility. When they get in the room, they find the dog just falling to a deep sleep because of the music of the harp behind them, and with that, they totally knew that someone was already inside and ready to find out.

They jump in a small hole under the feet of the dog, then they fall in a Devil Snare, a root like thing that, when you move or show some panic, will just kill you faster, so the three just relax, and the Devil Snare just releases the alarm automatically. Devil Snare dropped them in to a room full of keys that actually have wings. They jumped in to the next door and found the door locked. They put a spell in it but it didn`t work out. In that case, they must get the key, which is the very old key in the bunch of flying keys.

After they got the key, they found themselves in a room with a human-size chessboard, and they played chess to cross over to another room, but Ron just sacrificed himself and got hurt. That’s why only Harry jumped to another room because Hermione needed to take care of Ron. Just sacrifice himself and get hurt.

Harry saw Professor Quirrell as a tuttering teacher in Hogwarts, and he found out that Quirrell is the one who wants to kill him in the Quidditch game, not Snape, who is actually saving him, Harry also found out that Quirrell is a py of Lord Voldemort against Hogwarts. Lord Voldemort actually lives in Quirrell’s head and is getting started to form a body using Quirrell, but Harry didn’t trigger those emotions; he fought Voldemort using the Philosophers stone that magically found in Harry`s pocket and made Voldemort and Quirrell into ashes.
